OurStage is your stage

I want to tell you about a company I have recently begun consulting for called OurStage.

I first found out about them at the Gen Art Film Festival when Alyssa J. Hale interviewed me for a segment they were doing about short filmmakers. I immediately went home and uploaded some of my shorts, only to watch Twitch climb to the top three in the short film section and Team Queen make it to the top ten in the music video section. OurStage then submitted Twitch on my behalf to several festivals, including the DC Shorts Film Festival and the HollyShorts Film Festival, where I ended up doing an even more in-depth another interview with them. Most recently, I spoke on an OurStage-sponsored panel at the Slamdance Film Festival about distribution in the digital age.

I have come away from all of this with the conviction that OurStage is a fantastic resource for independent filmmakers. It is free to upload your short films and their peer voting system insures that instead of a popularity contest, only the best will “rise to the top.” It is simple and easy to submit and you get the chance to win $1000 each month. Even if you don’t win the cash, OurStage is a great distribution resource – they have a strong presence at film festivals nationwide and an even wider presence online. Plus, it free, easy to use, and their agreement is non-exclusive.

So what are you waiting for? Grab those short films from off the shelf where they’ve been languishing and upload them to OurStage already!
