dir. Leah Meyerhoff, 10 min, S16mm
A Student Academy Award finalist, “Twitch” tells the poignant story of a young girl torn between two worlds: her domestic life where she must care for her wheelchair-bound mother and her escape into the emerging world of sexuality with her eager, hormone-addled boyfriend.

The Graduate
dir. Mike Nichols, 105 min, 35mm
Ben has recently graduated college, with his parents now expecting great things from him. At his “Homecoming” party, Mrs. Robinson, the wife of his father’s business partner, has Ben drive her home, which leads to an affair between the two. The affair eventually ends, but comes back to haunt him when he finds himself falling for Elaine, Mrs. Robinson’s daughter.

Moviehouse screens New York’s best independent short films with classic features at Williamsburg’s seminal venue, Galapagos Art Space on the first and third Sunday of every month.

Each event includes free popcorn, drink specials for our trivia contest winners and an after party featuring the visual delights of the city’s finest VJs and delicious rhythms of the neighborhood’s best DJs.

Our main purpose is to give local filmmakers and performers an opportunity to reach a much larger and more diverse audience than they might by hosting their own screening, while providing audience members with access to high-quality cutting edge work that might escape their notice at a traditional theater.

We started on the coldest night of the year in February with Decline Of Western Civilization and an audience of about 15. After a successful run on Tuesdays, we are now the anchor of Galapagos’ Sunday night events, drawing a full house to each screening. We have already been featured in The New York Times Urban Eye, FreeNYC.net, The Brooklyn Courier Life Papers, and AM New York.
